I have always been keen to try expensive things because i am careless enough to assume that most things that are more expensive are better. This is the case with some things, as quality is something i perfer over quantity, but the question is is it worth it? i've always bought top branded shampoo such as john freda, mark hill, etc, (these might not seem expensive to some people, but they are for a student) and i've always had a good wash. Although i've had a batch of dry skin on my neck recentley and dared to try Head and Shoulders colour care shampoo and conditioner. I was very worried as i thought my hair was going to smell and look horrible from this cheap shampoo which was half the price as normal. I washed, and my hair turned out beautiful, verging on the extent of better than all the leading brands i've tired, as well as helping out my dry skin. This begged me to think about other expensive products i buy and ask if they are worth it, especially for a student with no part time job and living of grants and generous donations. Has anyone ever thought about this too?

note: i know i havn't blogged in a.g.e.s but i have had a lot of university work over the past month and wil continue to do so as the work is getting so difficult, but please keep reading and checking as i will blog as much as i can!

I am all for cheaper brands!

For example...
A Boots Natural Collection Foundation £1.99 lasts longer and covers better than the Chanel Foundation I had for £29.99 (Last resort, I tried EVERYTHING) so cheap wins here!

John Frieda, Umberto Gianna and Mark Stafford hair products have never given me any better rsults than any other, so I used Somerfield own brand Apple shampoo and conditioner, and it worked wonders, and under £1 per bottle!

Theres my answer :D
Take care! x

I am definatly coverted to cheap shampoo and conditioner.
I always used to buy expensive ones, then because of a money shortage and no shampoo left I bought Alberto Balsam apple herbal shampoo and conditioner. 98 pence a piece. They are without a doubt the best shampoo/conditioner that I have ever used.

Its always worth trying cheaper stuff, at least then if they don't work you haven't wasted a lot of money!

it feels great to know people also do this, as it shows that brands arn't important, yes they are great, but not nessarley better.

i will definatley try the boots natural collection foundation! i'll let you know how it goes.

& i also agree its not so much of a disapointment if they don't work as they arnt expensive. i remember buyin dior spray foundation @ £30, and it lasted for a month, if that and thats only as i rationed it out.

I have had (from my use of shampoo and conditioner!!) several types, generally whatever's on offer. I will say that the time my hair was doing its best thing, and when it got most comments was when I used Charles Worthington Curl one (BOGOF at Boots after Christmas). And I did use Blis Lemon and Sage stuff which I got free with a Vogue subscription.

Most of the time I stick with Herbal Essences (interspersed with whatever's on offer!). I have used some awful awful cheap shampoos before, but that's probably because I've TRIED more cheap shampoo.
